Alrighty, folks! Changes are afoot! We will be moving to a new space that's being built out for us in the Viewcrest shopping area on the corner of McCarran and Kings Row! We'll be in the old donut shop there. Now, before you start groaning, this is only 1.25 miles away from where we are now. And let me list all the reasons why this move is gonna rock your world!
1. Big patio seating is being built for your enjoyment. Not only is it covered, it is protected from the wind with a huge view of the city and the Eastern hills. Can I get an amen?!
2. Way huge kitchen means we can retire the hot plate and use a stove! We'll have hoods, gas burners, walk in refrigeration,
big ol' freezer. What this means to you is that we'll have way more flexibility in what we can serve and how quickly we can serve it. Plus, we'll be happier and since I know you love us, I know that's important to you, too. :)
Another part of this larger kitchen is that we'll be able to pick up catering and special events for our customers. Our current situation keeps that from being a sustainable business for us, but with this space, we'll be able to do some wholesale baking perhaps, cater or host your parties, teach you how to bake a bagel maybe and even have room left to rent kitchen space to other wonderful cooks and bakers who don't have their own kitchens yet. Let your imagination go wild and if you have ideas, let me know! It's going to be pretty open to the rest of the space, so you'll get to watch us in action!
3. Some of you may be lamenting having to share parking with the Welfare office up there, but they are moving out the end of September. So, no worries there.
4. New, totally wicked espresso machine! I was worried about our current machine being able to keep up with a higher flow of business. It's a concern now, but I think being in a busier area will make this a super serious concern. Through the magic of craigslist, I found a beautiful, top-of-the-line machine that will be installed along with the rest of our move. It's like having our very own Mazerati. Trust me, you'll love the results!
What else is awesome about this move? Well, time will tell, won't it? But, our artists are excited about the space, our kitchen managers, Serena and Halley, are super excited about the kitchen possiblities, our baristas are super excited to have a new toy and a view of the city. And I'm....well, I'm super excited, super terrified, super everything-you-can-imagine, because this is a big step. However, I'm feeling courageous from all the support you've given us thus far. So, knowing that we have you to help us not only move (some of you have offered and don't think I wont' call on you!), but many of you have told us that you will follow us no problem and that is monumental. I don't know what I'd do if my only option was to leave the NW. I can't imagine leaving our community, because the reason we do what we do, ultimately, is for the sake of community and you are a very special group of people who we've been lucky enough to serve for three years. So, all I can say is, you rock! Thanks for making this happen and we'll be keeping you abreast of the situation as it unfolds, of course.
So, the big question is when and the answer is as of now, mid - late July. We've got some things that need to change inside to be ready, but as soon as I sign that line, it's game on!
Thanks for all you do, for being a part of our little family and cheering us on! It means the world to me. :)
TTFNMFF!*

| Hi Point Stories We've recently been talking about what great people we get to share our lives with at Hi Point and one of our customer's suggested that we start writing down a story a day, 'cause really, interesting news is shared every day in our little microcosm of the universe. So, I started thinking about how to share these stories more and I'm thinking of doing a customer bio in these newsletters so y'all can start to get to know each as we know and love you. Wouldn't that be fun? But, then I was thinking how much fun would it be for us to gather your stories and share them, as well. Stories about Hi Point or whatever you'd like to share. You can post on our facebook page or send me ideas/thoughts/poems/whatever that I can publish through our newsletter and/or fb. I'm not totally sure what this would look like, except that I wanna start sharing these wonderful people and stories which we have the joy of hearing all the time. What do you think? |
