Yo, dudes! What up? :) Have you read the report in the RN&R that says statistically Reno is a pretty lousy place to live? What?! I love this town! But...if you count health, education, mortality, access to healthy food, etc, we're pretty lame. Not that this is news, but it's still disappointing for this beautiful place to be struggling so much. So, between that and this coming Earth Day, I've been thinking about what do we do to make our town better for everyone who lives here. Since I can't quite employ, educate or feed everyone well balanced meals, I began to ponder what is it that I can do today to help make this a better place. I decided my action today is to renew my intention to acknowledge and care for each person I interact with today, just a little more than usual. After all, our community is ultimately where our solutions will come from and it is built one interaction at a time, right? And then the community that we grow together will develop the grand ideas needed to heal our city and our Earth. So, count yourself thanked by me for all that you do and who you are. We are a great community of wonderful people who can only grow stronger together. Celebrate this weekend, think grand thoughts, be kind and open and who knows what'll spring forth from the fertile ground that is us! Happy Earth Day! Sarah PS The real news is Gabardine Sisters playing this Saturday night at Hi Point! And a delicious Sunday Brunch lined up, too. You know you wanna come! :)
Sunday Brunch! Served Sunday 9am - 2pm In honor of baseball season getting heated up, we're serving... "The Home Plate" Brunch! Lemon ricotta pancakes topped with marscapone cream and mixed berries, served with a side of bacon or sausage and eggs to order. $10 ![]()
Upcoming Events! Gabardine Sisters! April 21st, 7pm The Gabardine Sisters are comin' to hang out at Hi Point and sing some new cowgirl songs. Doors will open at 6pm, so come early so you can get a seat, get some dinner and settle in for a night of good music, drinks and tasty treats! NEW Book Club! April 21st, 1pm We've got a little group together to start reading the "The Source Field Investigations; The hidden science and lost civilizations behind the 2012 prophecies". As I've mentioned, I already read it once, but dang it if it's just so full of interesting stuff that I couldn't quite get my head around it the first time. So, I'm rereading it and we'll be gathering to discuss April 21st, 1pm. If you're not part of the group I've mentioned, no worries. You're totally welcome! So, buy it and get started! It's a whopper of a book, so even if you're not finished, please do still come. :) Introduction to Cosolargy April 25, May 2nd and May 9th 7pm Peig Myota is back to teach another class series on Cosolargy, which is a method of interacting with the sun to improve overall life energy, health and personal transformation. The history of ancient cultures around the world who worked with the sun will also be discussed. The class started yesterday (sorry I didn't alert you earlier!) and continues every Wednesday for the next three weeks. $35 per class Qigong at Hi Point! April 26th, 6pm Kristin Manning from Happy Heart Qigong in Reno is starting a donation only group class for everyone, including children to the elderly or impaired. And, you don't have to know what you're doing, so don't worry about being clueless. I'm clueless, except that I've heard good things about Qigong and its use in improving health, overall energy, and self transformation. Uber cool. Wisdom and Wine Group Friday April 27th, 4:30pm This is a wonderful group of folks who are interested in all things spiritual and who also enjoy a nice glass of vino! Totally awesome. :) Coles Whalen with Lacey Mattison and Gia Myer-Torcaso Tuesday May 1st, 7pm Special Event! Coles is a very special artist who will be in Reno. Lacey and Gia wanted to host her in Reno at Hi Point and I am so honored. Her music, along with Lacey and Gia's wonderful presences, will make such a magic night. Start planning now to be here! Billy Mickelson Tuesday May 22nd, 1pm Lunch Concert! How fun is that? Tuesday afternoon should mean work and obligation. But not this time. You need to be at Hi Point to hear Billy's amazing cello! http://www.thirdseven.com/epk

Community News Here's some stuff going on in the community that I thought you might wanna know about! Hi Point Community Garage Sale I'm kinda sitting on the community garage sale at the moment, because it is up in the air as to who owns our building. There's no one at the moment to ask permission and so when I find out who that is, I'll move forward on that. Stay tuned! :) River School CSA I was thinking some of you would be interested in the CSA at The River School. CSA means community supported agriculture and the idea is you subscribe to the farm for a weekly fee and you get a box with your share of the harvest for the week. The River School is super close to Patagonia, down on 4th St on the river and they have room for more subscribers for their wonderful organic, local produce that will change through the summer. Eggs are also available. You pick up on Thursdays and then you have your veggies for the week for your family. Nate and I have subscribed to CSAs before. It's a wonderful way to eat and we'll be signing up for the River School shares when summer sets in. Right now, the shares are full beautiful greens and we have a ton of our own right now, but come summer we'll definitely love to get our shares of corn, peppers, zucchini, herbs, etc. Totally awesome! Call them for more information!! #(775) 747-2222 or check out their site. http://www.riverschool.info/Home.html
Newsletter Photography!! Ian Kahler is our resident photographer, supplying all these awesome shots of Hi Point. I'm so grateful to you, Ian! You can check him out at http://www.redbubble.com/people/iiman Plus, Ian's got a community shot book at Hi Point, which you can peruse. It's up front where the newletter binder and the community sketch book are located.
Record Street In case you're wondering, we do still gather donations for the Record Street Shelter! If you have anything you'd like to donate, bring it to us. Our box is almost full and ready for a run. Thanks!!
