News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 11/30/11

Good morning!!
It's still pitch black outside and I'm enjoying my neighbor's Christmas lights. :) I hope y'all have been enjoying the festive view around town, too. However, I'm realizing what a stinker I am. I don't put up a single light, but enjoy everyone else's. Hmm. Just realized that this is not quite neighborly. Well, at least I had the thought. Who knows. Maybe a string of lights will make it up somewhere, but most likely I'll take the next year to ponder my non-neighborly-ness and shoot for next year. :)

Shelby and Katelyn have been working on our decorations at Hi Point. Thanks guys! We've got a few more to go, but considering how quickly it all flies by, we could have ornaments still in the boxes by the time we have to take 'em down. Well, tis the season to get 'er done! Can I get an amen?!

On that note, there is a lot of holiday news to talk about. I forgot to add a few holiday events to the list last week, so those are up. I fixed the caroling date!! Plus, we're going to be doing some delicious holiday treats for gifts. Got it all for you down below!

Most importantly, though, we do have a great band coming to play bluegrass this Saturday 7-9pm! And Sunday brunch is going to be pretty special, I think. Anytime there's fondue sauce made from Julia Child's cookbook, it's a good morning. :)

Alrighty, folks. I'll cut you loose so you can get out there and string some more beautiful lights for me to appreciate. :)
Best to you all and thank you for all you do!

Sunday Breakfast Special
Served Sunday 9am - 1pm

I'm currently in love with the combination of barley and mushrooms and so it continues for Brunch!

Brunch starts with mini sticky apple buns, topped with butter.

Crepes stuffed with barley, mushroom and bacon, topped with white wine fondue sauce, served with poached eggs and a side of arugula salad.

A light dessert of apple cider granita with ginger cream.

Plus, a serving of mulled spiced wine will be possible, as well. It's ok to drink for breakfast, 'cause it's hot and has spices in it. I believe that is a rule, actually. :)
Holiday Shopping Possibilities
It's time for Christmas candy! Serena and I have some pretty special cookies, mixes, candies on the way. Here's some of the ideas that will be rolling out over the next few days.

Scone mix - our recipe, just add buttermilk and butter
Hot chocolate mix
Homemade marshmallows
Christmas cookies - right now, Serena just finished some chocolate peppermint cookies, sandwiched with a thick chocolate ganache. They are very special!
Peppermint bark, plus other barks
Peanut butter cups
Chocolate dipped apricots
Peppermint meringues

The hot cocoa and scone mix will come packaged.  The candies will be mix and match and priced $10 per pound. If you'd like to place an order, particularly if it's a large one (over 10lb), please give us a call! 787-2477.

Hi Point will provide a yummy holiday spread. I have yet to decide what we're serving, so I'm not sure how much to charge yet. And of course, spiced mulled wine, our regular selections of beer and wine and treats for the kiddos. :)

Anyway, this will be great! We'll all sing together, plus RBE will perform a few holiday favorites. And you don't have to be a grand singer to attend. People keep telling me that I don't want them to come, 'cause they sing so poorly. That's not true!! The point is to experience the joy of singing together! How fun is that? Plus, you'll have a great choir to fill the room with great sound and you'll find your place in the song so easy and simply. You've never had so much fun singing in your life, I tell you this for certain. And for all you who say they can't sing...1. I don't believe you and 2. how you think you sound is irrelevant 'cause if you love Christmas music, you'll love this event and that is the point, right?

Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga.
