News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 10/26/11

Yo! What up, peeps? :)

Seeing that I've practically written a small novel, I'm cutting myself off from any more news. I'll save some other tidbits for next week. So, get a cup o' joe and get comfortable for newsletter reading. :)

You'll see I've got some plans forming for the holidays, so if you have ideas or comments on any of that, I'd be most grateful. I'm in as much shock as you are that it's time to plan for the holidays. However, given how fast weeks and months are racing past me these days, the only chance I have to survive the holiday madness is to plan now. I know a few of you are nodding your heads right now. Can I get an AMEN!? :)

Got some music plans this week and tonight. Got a very fun Sunday brunch, new coffee, a new tea and some generally fun community news this week.

As always, thank you for all you do, especially for coming in to see us, supporting us, telling your friends about us and all that. :)

I hope life is good and I hope to see you soon!

Sunday Breakfast Special
Served Sunday 9am - 1pm

We're going a little wild this weekend! Maybe it's because of Halloween, but I'm feeling like throwing a couple delicious curve balls. It'll be delicious, surprising and totally satisfying.

Bacon, apple and bleu cheese omelet , served with roasted rosemary red potatoes and an orange, walnut and spiced cranberry salad. Brunch is finished with a second course of brown butter pear and blackberry crisp, topped with fennel ice cream.
Music Schedules this Week...

Thursday October 27th 7-9pm
Jazz jam night with Mac Esposito

Following Week!
Saturday November 5th 7-9pm
Ed Corey Trio $5 cover

The Ed Corey Trio came to play Hi Point a few months ago and it was a great night. These guys are truly awesome musicians and the jazz just flowed. Loved it and I'm very pleased to host them again!
New Coffee from Wood Fire Roasted Coffee Co. and New Tea from the Tao of Tea!

Tim's brought us a Guatemala coffee, which he roasted Full City. That's code for lightly roasted to allow more of the character of the bean shine through. The beans are from the Bella Carmona small estate in the Antigua region. The coffee has a nutty, creamy taste with notes of milk chocolate and raspberry.

New loose leaf tea from the Tao of Tea. We brought in the Moroccan Mint, which is a green tea with mint leaves. Refreshing and delicious, particularly for the coming flu season. When you're feeling a little under the weather, let us brew you a soothing and healing concoction!

New Menu for the Fall!

We are now serving our Fall menu, full of the season's best comfort foods. Check it out!! Click here for the pdf. :) It's posted on our Facebook page and our website
Community  News!

Working on the Holiday events, and here's what I'm thinking thus far...

Sunday, December 18th 1-4pm
Cookie Decorating Party! We supply the cookies, the "paint on frosting" and all the sprinkles. Cookies are $5/dozen and you get to go to town! All ages are welcome to join in the fun. Cute gift boxes for cookies will be available for purchase if you want to give away your artistic creations.

Thursday, December 15th 6-9pm
Holiday party with mulled spiced wine, appetizers and wonderful desserts and more...all Hi Point style! I'm still working out the details on this, but mark the date as booked now!

Sunday, December 11th 1-3pm
Holiday sing-a-long and story time! Still working out the details here, too. However, if you are in choir with me, let this be your first warning that I will be asking you to come sing harmony on some favorite carols. I truly believe in the joy of singing and wouldn't it be a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays to sing some carols and have some members of the Reno Baroque Ensemble sing with you? It's like a high powered holiday karaoke! Maybe Keith, you'll want to come play, too? In my mind's eye, this is an amazing musical event for all ages. Just have to make it happen! :)

Your Holiday Party!
I'll be talking more about this later, but let me just plant a seed. We'll be opening our doors for your holiday parties! We can host up to 40 people (50 can fit, it's just tight) and we can take care of all the food, drinks and can also help arrange music for the event, too. Just imagine throwing a great party and then going home to a clean, quiet house with no dishes. Ah!! Now that's the way to celebrate the holidays. :)

In other news...
Our customer, Phil, came in today and fixed the table in the front window so it won't wiggle anymore! Wow, can you save grateful? I've tried before and I just didn't have the know-how/skills, but Phil got 'er done. Yeah!

Taylor of Up Close and Personal Photography is doing a special promotion to help with adoption of wild mustangs. The adoption cost is at an all time low cost of $50 and Taylor is offering a free 30 minute photography session with your new horse to all those who can provide adoption papers. You can find out more at Taylor's facebook pagehttp://www.facebook.com/UpCloseandPersonalPhotography

We were reviewed in the Reno Gazette this last Sunday!! Very exciting, because it was a very nice review and definitely lead some new people to our doors. You can see the review at http://www.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011110230320.

Ted and Kerri moved away and I wasn't in the shop when they came in to say good-bye. :( If you're reading this guys, know that I will miss you!!! You better drop me a note on occasion. I don't wanna miss out on the fun, even if you have gone so far away!

Yoga Class at Hi Point!

Monday, October 31st 5:30pm - 6:45pm
Wednesday, November 2nd  5:30pm - 6:45pm
Yoga Monday and Wednesday nights. Bring your mat! Class is a $7 donation to Jelena.

Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga.
