News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 8/31/11

Hello, all!
It was cold this morning! Did anyone notice that Fall apparently arrived today? I know it's gorgeous right now, but it still happened. Can't deny it!  So, I did what I always do when it gets cold. I put in an order for a few cases of pumpkin for our pumpkin pie lattes! Now, I know that little announcement will send up a hurrah! from some of you, 'cause you know how very tasty they are. For others, you are pumpkin pie latte newbies, so I'll introduce you to the idea now. They have real pumpkin in them, so not only are they absolutely delicious and actually taste like pumpkin pie, your latte becomes a serving of vegetables and is high in fiber and beta carotene! One stop shopping for caffeine, epic yum-i-ness and dietary needs. It's a triumph of a latte. :) Pumpkin's not in for a few more days, but the countdown has begun! Also of note is a bunch of new September inspired lattes!
Hope all is well in your world and I hope to see you soon!
All the best,
Sarah

New Yoga Class at Hi Point!

Wednesday, September 7th 5:30pm - 6:45pm

Jelena's first yoga class at Hi Point was a wonderful success. I believe there were around 12 students, including yours truly. I'm sore, but I am very grateful for the great class.  You are welcome to join us this coming Wednesday. Bring a mat! Class is a $7 donation to Jelena. :)

Here's more info on Jelena and her style of teaching.
Jelena is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and a Reiki practitioner. She completed her yoga teacher training in 2009 with the Northern California Yoga Institute, which blends classical yoga, meditation and self-awareness practices with contemporary exercise science methods. Transformed by her own experience with yoga, Jelena teaches yoga as the unity of body, mind and spirit and a way of life. Her goal is to help people discover their own healing abilities by connecting with the strength and grace within, living mindfully and expressing their beauty and life purpose.

Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga.

Community News

1. Cheers to the wonderful customer who brought us a water dispenser they no longer needed! Our old one started to leak (which seems to be a bit of a theme around here!), so we threw it out. Now, we have a truly great one!! Yeah! :)

2. I'd like to welcome Katelyn to our team. She is a new Reno-ite, just moved from Roseburg, OR. She's very friendly, has tons of experience and is a quick study, so I count myself lucky. :) Welcome, Katelyn!

3. Our new espresso machine is finally getting the tune-up it needs and will be ready next week. In the meantime, we're managing the old one, but she will be limping to the finish line. I'll be pleased to take the current one to the doctor next, since she is a great machine, but these little machines need care and Reno is not the center of espresso machine repair techs. Our new one is in Sacramento, so I'll be driving over the hill on Tuesday to bring it home. I don't as of now know the gender of the new machine, so I'll keep you abreast of that situation. ;)

3. Our customer Sandy, who works for Volunteers of America and the Record St. Family shelter, has made a special request for toiletries and towels. The towels do not need to be new, so if you'd like to use this as a grand excuse to get yourself a new set of towels, we'll gladly take the old ones. :)

3. I could use some help painting our west wall. I suppose I could paint it, but I'm not all that good at it and I'd rather hire that work out. Do you know someone who can help us and maybe work in trade or combination trade and cash? That'd be super cool. Email me if you have some ideas for me. :)

4. And thanks to the rest y'all! The joy in our work is the pleasure of getting to know you, so thank you for coming in and sharing your lives with us. :)
