Hello!
You know, I'm looking down at the expanse of words I've written in this newsletter, I think I'll cut short my commentary before I run out of letters. I must be close to the quota. But there's so much good info to share! Super cool music this week, book club, Sunday brunch!!, and a uber-fun yoga class starting next week. Yeah!! Anyway, stopping before I run out of words. Right now. ;)
Thanks, y'all! And peace to you and yours!

New Yoga Class at Hi Point!
Wednesday, August 31st 5:30pm - 6:45pm This is super exciting. A local yoga instructor, Jelena Hardy, wanted to do a class in the NW and what better place than Hi Point after hours!? We'll be starting with one class and hopefully going to two per week, depending on interest. Classes are a $7 donation to Jelena. :) Any questions about the class, please contact Jelena. Bring your own mat!!!
jelenahardy@gmail.com or 530.321.2886
Here's more info on Jelena and her style of teaching.
Jelena is a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200) and a Reiki practitioner. She completed her yoga teacher training in 2009 with the Northern California Yoga Institute, which blends classical yoga, meditation and self-awareness practices with contemporary exercise science methods. Transformed by her own experience with yoga, Jelena teaches yoga as the unity of body, mind and spirit and a way of life. Her goal is to help people discover their own healing abilities by connecting with the strength and grace within, living mindfully and expressing their beauty and life purpose.
Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga. |
UP Coming Shows...
The events page on our web site is still the best place to see what's happening, but here's the short of it for next week. :)
9/2 Rupert Wates with Dave Turner
This will be a very special show. It's overwhelms me sometimes who comes to play Hi Point. Rupert and Dave are magnificent musicians who have been delighting people around the US (and the world, for that matter) for years. I'll expand on these folks as we get closer to the show, but I wanted to get this show on your calendar of must-do's for that weekend. I know this one will be an absolutely enchanting evening, as only great live music can create. |

Community News
1. Thanks to Paul for leading our book group this weekend! Paul has a wonderful way of guiding the conversation and I'm looking forward to it, always! :)
2. We're coming up with holiday plans already, so if you have some ideas of what you'd like to do this season, please let me know. Linda suggested a cookie exchange/party. We're pondering a children's cookie decorating time. What else would you like to see or do?
3. We're brainstorming ideas on how to help disadvantaged kids for back to school time. Stay tuned on that! As usual, we are always collecting for Record St., but we have a special request from our customer Sandy who works for Volunteers of America and the Record St. Family shelter. They always need toiletries and as the kids are heading back to school, they'll want to look their best. I can only imagine that sanitary napkins, etc. for the older girls would also be much appreciated. So, if you think of it, bring what you have to give and I'll get it down there!
3. I could use some help painting our western wall. I suppose I could paint it, but I'm not all that good at it and I'd rather hire that work out. Do you know someone who can help us and maybe work in trade or combination trade and cash? That'd be super cool. Email me if you have some ideas for me. :)
4. The new espresso machine is at the espresso machine doctor. Everyone's scratching their heads at the moment over this one. Cross your fingers! :)
5. And thanks to the rest y'all! The joy in our work is the pleasure of getting to know you, so thank you for coming in and sharing your lives with us. :) |
New Book Club Selection
"Daddy Needs a Drink"
Sunday August 28th, 2pm!
This definitely sounds funny, even to me, the dedicated non-parent. I can only imagine the difficulties of parenthood, so it seems a truly great idea to sit back and have a good laugh at the craziness of it all, right? And I get to sit back and laugh at y'all and call you suckers. ;)

New Coffee Featured at Hi Point!
Our roaster, Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee, is celebrating 10 years of great roasting in Reno, NV.He's made a very special Anniversary Blend and we're brewing this up for as long as its available. It's certified Organically Grown and Fair Trade. It's tasting notes are predominately chocolate and orange spice, with pralines, vanilla and caramel. It's delicious and I wouldn't expect anything less from Tim. Congratulations on 10 years, Tim! :)
