Hola!
Well, I'm must be giving in a bit to the lull of summer and didn't send out my email last week. If I had a tail, it'd be between my legs...but shame is short-lived, 'cause there's a whole new week of stuff to talk about! Yeah! We have our singer/songwriter night this Thursday and the Ed Corey Jazz Trio this Friday. You can escape Hot August Nights with some non-1950's entertainment. There won't be a sock hop, Elvis impersonators or anything car related. You're safe here. It's gonna be OK. ;)
Hope all is well in your world and looking forward to seeing you real soon. :)

Music Schedules this Week...
Thursday, August 11th Singer/Songwriter Night with Kristin Legasse 8-10pm
Come listen to some great music or bring your instrument, just in case theirs room in the line-up. Kristin's putting together players for the evening, but it may not be full. Friday, August 12th 8-10pm Ed Corey Jazz Trio
The Ed Corey is bringing his professional jazz trio to Hi Point! Ed is a professor at the UNR music department, which is a coded way of saying he's no slouch! This is a top shelf trio and will truly be a treat!
You can listen to tracks from their CD here.
Plus, super exciting news is that the UNR music department will be parking an extra piano at Hi Point for use for their jazz musicians, but will be available for the rest of us, too. My dream of having a Christmas sing-a-long is a piano player away! :) Or my other dream of hosting classical events. That would be great, too. Oh, the possibilities!

UP Coming Shows...
The events page on our web site is still the best place to see what's happening, but here's the short of it for August. :)

Weekend Breakfast Special
So, this week we're doing a Saturday/Sunday special, 'cause it seems like the right thing to do. I wanted to serve our version of breakfast pizza, but that hardly seems like ultra fancy, get-out-the-china-kinda cooking and perfectly suited for Saturday, too. Check it out! :)
Weekend Special
Breakfast pizza for us means homemade pizza crust, rolled thin, brushed with olive oild and piled up with breakfast potatoes, bacon, green chiles, and cheese and served with a fried egg on top! All the good stuff in a great fresh dough. We're serving with a side of summer fruit and serving all day Saturday and Sunday with $1 PBR.

Hi Point's New Summer Menu for Lunch and Breakfast!
We're doing new menus to reflect the seasons. Check out the new summer menu posted here ! |
I was thinkin'...
...that we could use a little librarian action in our community book exchange. Nothing serious. No dewey decimal system experience required, but would anyone be interested in drinking free coffee and doing some organizing of titles into categories, like non-fiction, mysteries, romance, literature, etc.? I know some folks are brining in more books and I could use some help in getting the shelves ready to accept some more titles. So, here's the deal. You organize, I caffeinate. Deal? Send me an email if your interested. :)
Which reminds me to encourage the rest of you to come browse for some books and take them home! They do belong to you, afterall. :) I picked up a mystery novel the other day and I'm having a great time with this one. The best part is I never would have discovered this author if I had to buy it. Free is always the right price when discovering new authors, right? Do I get an amen?? :) |
New Book Club Selection
"Daddy Needs a Drink"
This definitely sounds funny, even to me, the dedicated non-parent. I can only imagine the difficulties of parenthood, so it seems a truly great idea to sit back and have a good laugh at the craziness of it all, right? And I get to sit back and laugh at y'all and call you suckers. ;)
Next meeting is August 28th! |
New Coffee Featured at Hi Point!
Our roaster, Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee, is celebrating 10 years of great roasting in Reno, NV.He's made a very special Anniversary Blend and we're brewing this up for as long as its available. It's certified Organically Grown and Fair Trade. It's tasting notes are predominately chocolate and orange spice, with pralines, vanilla and caramel. It's delicious and I wouldn't expect anything less from Tim. Congratulations on 10 years, Tim! :)
