Hola! Feels like a lot going on this weekend...again. I love it! :) I hope you'll have the time to come and participate in some of the fun!
First of all, in chronological order, is our St. Patty's Day specials for Thursday, then open mic on Friday, then Saturday night music!! and dinner special, then Sunday brunch and book club andhopefully the founding of a new gardening group, which I'd really like to see come into being. If you're interested in the gardening group, please let me know. We'll be planning our first meeting here shortly. :)
All in all, it's really a fun line-up of food and activities this weekend. We also now have our calendar of events online at our website. There's a link below, so please check that out, too.
Hope to see you soon! :)

St. Patty's Day Lunch Special!!
We're serving corned beef brisket, slowly roasted in mustard and brown sugar served with stout mustard sauce and creamy horseradish, Irish potatoes, buttered cabbage and carrots plus fresh soda bread. All made fresh, from scratch!
MOST importantly, though...homemade chocolate ice cream and stout beer floats. This stuff is my absolute favorite, even if it sounds a little funny. Afterall, it's Celebrate Beer Day! Oh...did I say that? I mean, celebrate the Irish day! ;)
Either way, it'll be fun and I hope you come check it out! We'll be serving tomorrow, starting at 11am to 4pm.
PLUS, we'll have hand-dipped chocolate pretzels with an Irish whiskey caramel center! |
Sunday Brunch
Croque madame breakfast sandwiches!
The croque madame is possibly the most perfect of all sandwiches. It's ridiculously tasty, filling and yet as a sandwich, has the surprising experience of luxuriance.
Tender, sweet ham covered in Gruyere cheese and fresh bechamel sauce, toasted to perfection and topped with a fried egg. We will be serving with a strawberry lemon sorbet and greens.
I love this sandwich and I know you will too!! |
Saturday Night Music - Pyle of Zen!
Music this Saturday starts at 7pm. Pyle of Zen is a trio of very talented musicians and will be a ton of fun, no doubt. I'm blown away by the quality of music coming through Hi Point's doors and this will be no exception. Come check it out!
Here's a description of Pyle of Zen... "Pyle of Zen blends an eclectic mix on Indie roots, Folk, rock American, Country Swamp and Tulsa style music They'll will take you through quiet story telling songs to guitar-layered rockers." |
Saturday Night Dinner Special
Your choice of bacon-lover's meatloaf or a rosemary and lamb meatloaf served with a twice baked potato and side salad.
Lamb meatloaf is my favorite, but some of you may recall the bacon meatloaf from last year's Father's Day bacon-inspired brunch. It's a classic. Take some extra omega-3's or your favorite cholesterol pill and come on down!! :)

Open Mic Night
Friday evening, 6-8:30pm
Sign ups at 5:30, performances til 8:30pm. Hope to see you there!! |
New Events Calendar Online!!
This is sorta cool. Our Google calendar is now embedded in our website, so I'll be updating our events there as well as here.
I'll also be putting up menu information for specials on the calendar. Who knows, I may even plan a menu more than three days in advance!! ;)
Also, if you'd like to add an event, like cards or discussion group or whatever your interest is, the Google calendar could be the way to let others know about a group at Hi Point. To do that, just let me know what you'd like to do and we'll get it on the calendar. I'll be encouraging people to go to the calendar and who knows what'll happen! I think this will be a very fun tool for us to encourage more community events, so please let me know what you'd like to see here and let's make it happen! |

Book Club Meeting -
this Sunday 2:00pm
Got my copy of "Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer". Just in case you're on the fence about reading, the NYT book review says this about Farm City. "Fresh, fearless, and jagged around the edges, Ms. Carpenter's book...puts me in mind of Julie Powell'sJulie & Julia and Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love." If you're like me, that says something. Go get the book!!! |
Drive for warm stuff!
You bring stuff in, I'll take it down. Or perhaps this week, I'll ask my husband to take it. Hmmm...now that is a thought! :) Either way, Record St shelter needs your unwanted things and we're more than happy to deliver. :) |
