The Hi Points from Hi Point Coffee 9/9/10

Hello, all!
It's a stunning day outside. Such beautiful sun and crisp air. Turns my thoughts to fall flavors and yet it's going to be summer again in a day or two. Confusing! Sweaters or flip flops? Strawberries or pumpkin! Ack! So, we're trying to do a combination. Kinda fun, so check out the brunch menu for Sunday. For tomorrow, I'm gonna try a new creation of a cream cheese pear tart. If it's great, we'll have it by the slice tomorrow. If it's not, it's probably best to not speak of it. ;) I'll be posting the results on facebook!

As for our beer/wine license, I'm disappointed to report that we won't be serving this weekend like I had originally hoped. However, we are moving through the process and are on the agenda for 9/22 city council. The important thing is planning/zoning approved, so I'm hoping its smooth sailing from here. Fingers crossed!

All the best!
Sarah

Calling all Craft-y Folks! Sunday 2:30pm

This Sunday I'm recruiting help from our crafty people (or not so crafty, 'cause it won't be difficult!) to help put together some wonderful paper creations with the help of JoElle Butcher from Scrapbooking Paradise. We're making 300 gift certificates for breast cancer survivors at the Susan G Komen race coming up in October. They are going to be wonderful, but I could use some willing hands. There will be complimentary bribes to munch and sip. And by all means, bring your knitting and crocheting as well, if you would prefer to do your own thing and just provide company to the paper crew! :)
Open Mic Night!!
Open mic is tonight. Sign ups at 5:30, performances from 6-8pm. Please come join in or just listen in. Either way, we'd love to see you tonight!
Book Club Selection
New book club selection is Spice: The History of Temptation. It's about spices and how the mania for attaining spices in Europe made huge impacts on our history and shaping our world. Summer's over, time to get scholarly! ;) It sounds fascinating and if it's about food, I'm in. I hope you join us in reading our next book club selection.
