News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe!

Hi, guys! I've missed chatting with you! :) It's been a long two months since I've written you, but don't think it's because I don't care! It's not you, it's me. :) We've been going through a lot of changes, large and small which I'll tell you about, but we've also been getting busier! And so the time I used to spend writing you little love notes and hellos has been spent serving coffee. I can't complain! And now we're finding a new equilibrium again and I find myself at my desk with lots to say! Good stuff! So, hello! How are you?? Here's a slice of what's been happening...

- Bunches of art and decor projects,
- New wholesale business with other shops in town
- Catering business development
- Business organization stuff...weird, I know!
- Getting a piano :)
- And lots of business!

New Art!
 Bart Wilkins, a local photographer and Hi Point customer, has his work up at Hi Point right now! He's featuring shots from two trips to Japan, focusing on the city scenes of Osaka and Tokyo as well as vignettes of Japan's natural beauty. The work is really beautiful and fits nicely in our little space. Many thanks to Bart and to Ian, for getting the work up for all of us to enjoy! Photos are for sale, too. Come check them out!

Medical Cabinet Makeover
March 11, 6pm! One of our fabulous customers is a reseller of doTerra essential oils and she's offered to come do a talk on how to reduce the number or amount of pharmaceuticals you and your family needs with the use of essential oils. She's been able to help people with asthma, blood pressure, depression and other serious issues. I've got a little vial of an uplifting concoction she gave us to uplift moods and I love it. It's Dodgeball time again!
 Last year we did a dodgeball team to support our customers who are fundraising for their child, Lila. She's a very sweet little girl with cerebral palsy. There's tons of special therapies, schooling and treatments for CP kids now, but the more advanced options are sadly not covered by insurance. So, Maria and Matt do a huge fun-raising effort to get Lila every bit of help they can. We're sending a team again this year, but I'm asking members of our community to raise some of the money for our players. Can you help? We're raising $240 for the team to play this Saturday. Donations are tax deductible. You can drop money in the jar at our counter or you can write a check to Bay Street Helping Hands. Thank you for all your help!!
A Course in Miracles Study Group
Some of you may have wondered what happened to Wisdom and Wine. Well, the last few months came and went so quickly to me that I'd be caught completely surprised that the last Friday was upon us. Ack! So much to do, so little time. You'd think I'd be motivated by my love of wine and discussion of spiritual topics. Geez! So, instead of continuing to fail at organizing this event, I've asked Jelena to take it over and she'd gladly agreed, but decided what she'd really like to do is a study group of the Course in Miracles...with wine. Why not!? So, let me know if you're interested in doing this with us. We've been debating on times and days, so if you'd like to participate for sure, let me know so that we can plan with your schedule in mind.

"Everything on this ship is running low. Even the air is so paltry that my jaded lungs think we’re drowning to death. Mark is downstairs swindling our passengers out of their last few dollars with the thimblerig he uses for the card games; he switches their Aces out with some sleight of hand, no one suspects and we get more cash. Later this evening we’ll use the money to head into the port full of pugilists and rebels and spend it on a few hours in the only bar on Polaris that isn’t filled with cheap tchotchkes and isn’t trying to pretend to be Earth. These places on the outer-ring always seem to think that Earth is this giant bosky planet covered in greenery where nothing bad ever happens. Earth is worse. It’s just a collective hub now.
The wavelength coming from Polaris is abandoned so we have to guess our landing zone. Mark will have finished scamming the passengers, who are always hopeful that maybe Polaris will be outside the purging and expunging the Collective is doing. Get rid of all those who oppose, that’s their motto.
They’re wrong. The Collective has been on Polaris for years."

"Michael! Michael, how could you? How could you sell Grandpa's beloved bosky cottage to those dreadful people, and for such a paltry sum of money? You know how much that cottage means to Grandpa. It has been in his family for centuries. You're always telling me your career in pugilism has taught you to be fair, to be honest. This isn't fair to Grandpa. I think you value those stupid tchotchkes you are always bringing home more that you value your family's heritage."
"Whoa, just a minute, Fiona. Get down from your high horse long enough to hear me out. Before you expunge me from the family, let me explain what happened. I didn't abandon my family or my ethics. Daring Greatly
I've been "reading" a lot recently with the help of my audible app on my iPhone and one of the books was such a great one, I'd like to invite you to read it, too! That was we can discuss. :) It's called Daring Greatly. It's about "whole-hearted living". Finding the emotional capacity to live as our most courageous selves in our work and personal lives by dealing with the difficulties of vulnerability and shame. While that sounds like the worst book in the world, I read it on recommendation of a trusted friend and now that I'm done, I think it's a must read for everyone. So, how about anyone who's interested, come sit with me and discuss on Saturday April 6th, 1pm. Not inspired by my description? Well, that's reasonable. Here's the description from Amazon...
