Yo...what up, Reno?

Hola, my wonderful compatriots! Well, we've moved and operated now for a week! Woot! (You may, if you so wish, imagine me doing a little churn-the-butter dance right now.) I'm slowly getting my feet back on the ground and life is starting to resemble life again. It's cool. And as for the new space, so far so good! The new kitchen is completely luxurious to work in, though it's huge and is supplying us all with some serious exercise throughout the course of our days. Added benefit! :) Most folks so far have said that it has a better feel than the old place, which I'm super glad to hear. I think it does, as well. All in all, I'm really pleased to be where we are and I thank you guys for making it possible! So many wonderful folks have helped make this possible, either by picking up boxes or moving the phone line for us or by coming and finding us and buying coffee. I have to say, though, the couple weeks we were closed really brought into focus for me what I call the Hi Point bubble. The Hi Point bubble is the space I get to live and work in that seems to be occupied only with truly wonderful people who are kind, generous and fun. We, as a staff of people, are blessed to work with each other as we serve you, our wonderful guests. And yet the rest of the world is sometimes not in the same bubble and it felt a tad cold out in the real world. Thank God that's over! So, many blessings to you and thank you for making the Hi Point Bubble so darn-tootin' awesome! :) So, what's next for Hi Point? Here's the changes you should expect to see next... New signage on McCarran and Kings Row New countertops in the front. Poured concrete! Finished floors and coving Perhaps a painted ceiling and some accent walls Some sort of decor in the bathroom! Priority!! And about the time we're done with all that, it'll be time to start thinking about the new Fall menu. So, stay tuned and thanks for being wicked awesome. TTFN! Sarah Sunday Brunch! Sunday July 29, 9am - 2pm This Sunday, we're serving a light starter of a mango cream with strawberries, followed by our delicious biscuits served with mushroom and homemade sausage gravy, poached eggs and roast potatoes finished with a cupcake-size serving of cheesecake with a fresh rhubarb and cherry sauce. Events Friday July 27th, 4:30pm Wisdom and Wine strikes again! We're hosting Wisdom and Wine at the new place. :) This is an event for people who enjoy discussing spiritual topics in an open forum with people with all religious backgrounds. The conversations thus far have all been so engrossing, I really love this event. Normally I serve and take care of feeding people during this event, but seeing as to how I am co-hosting this one, we'll have a barista here as well for drinks and our full menu. We'll be open til we're not. :) Comments on Parking... Some folks have worried about our parking situation as we wait for social services to leave this Fall. However, the lot is practically empty at commuting time for coffee and also the weekends. During the weekday, you may have to walk a bit, but I've never had too much trouble or walked more than a row away. Certainly we do have neighbors and they have cars, which is a lovely new issue to have. I'm grateful for the traffic where we are and all the new folks we get to meet now that we're in a busy place! So, instead of cursing the folks in your way, perhaps think of all the new friends you have the potential to meet! And if that is just too ridiculously Polyanna for you, think of the extra exercise you're achieving and how that clearly earns you a spot of whipped cream on your mocha. Or a scone with that drip coffee. See, it's a win-win! :) Newsletter Photography!! Ian Kahler is our resident photographer, supplying all these awesome shots of Hi Point. Ian and Carol Ann, his lovely wife, have been taking lots o pictures of the move and the resettling. Not to mention putting in some real effort in unpacking, cleaning, carpentry and most importantly, keeping the days fun. :) Stay tuned for upcoming shots of the move ala Ian!! You can check Ian's work at http://www.redbubble.com/people/iiman Plus, Ian's got a community shot book at Hi Point, which you can peruse. It's up front where the newletter binder and the community sketch book are located. Record Street Record St needs toiletries! Do you have travel toiletries from hotels? Or just extra shampoo? Start looking around your house and bring in the spoils. :)
