Well, I suppose there's no denying that spring is here! I've been living in this hope of late winter and perhaps a worthy ski season. However, I saw my first robin this week, I've seen daffodils, and the lettuce in our hoop house was wilting 'cause it was too hot in there, if you can imagine. So, it's time to embrace it, get ready for Easter and let my inner skier pout quietly til next year, when no doubt the mighty Sierras will make up for lost time. I'm patient...sorta. As for events this week, we've got the final Whole Self Care class on Wednesday. You're welcome to drop in and see what this is all about, if you have yet to come and satisfy that burning curiosity! Also, the Wisdom and Wine gathering is this Friday at 4:30pm and we're doing our cookie decorating extravaganza next Sunday in preparation for Easter on the 1st. We were going to do egg dyeing, but the timing is simply not going to work given the art opening the day before Easter. Maybe next year? I want to try blowing out the egg before coloring, so maybe I'll have some groovy tricks to teach by next year. Martha Stewart makes it looks so easy! ;) Well, folks, I believe that's all for today. I hope all is well in your world and as always, thank you for supporting us and for all the good that you do in the world! I'm looking forward to seeing you again! Sarah PS Almost forgot to mention that I'll be on the radio this Sunday evening! 99.1 7pm Sunday night, I'll be on the House of Savoy radio program, talking about Hi Point and me, I suppose. :)
Sunday Breakfast Special Served Sunday 9am - 2pm BBQ shrimp and grits, served with poached eggs on top, focaccia toast and served with your choice of morning pastry! Simply delicious!
Upcoming Events! Whole Self Care Class Series Last class in the series is this Wednesday March 28th, 7pm. This class is focused on spiritual self care. The previous classes have already covered physical, emotional and intellectual care and they have been truly wonderful. Peig Myota from Steamboat Hot Springs is our teacher and she's an inspiring lady! If you're curious, you're welcome to come to the last class. You'll be sure to learn a ton and we'll be discussing future classes at this time, as well. $35, if you haven't pre-paid for the series. Wisdom and Wine Group Friday March 30th, 4:30pm This is a wonderful group of folks who are interested in all things spiritual and who also enjoy a nice glass of vino! This month we'll be talking about the I Ching, which I understand only vaguely as an ancient Chinese method of divination. This'll be very interesting. And with wine in my hand! Woot! West Wall Art Project Reception Saturday April 7th, 1pm Our first artist is installing her work on the West Wall April 7th and we'll be welcoming you to come view the work and meet with the artist, known as Kyoto Punk. The exhibit is "Artificial Souls" and will be on display for two months. Sunday April 1st, Easter Cookie Decorating! 1-4pm We had so much fun with the Christmas cookie decorating, so why not Easter, too? Come join us for decorating sugar cookies for Easter. We supply the cookies, the frostings and sprinkles to make your cookies totally Easter-ific! Please call ahead and reserve your dozen. $6 per dozen. 775-787-2477 (For those of you who pay attention to things like dates and times, you may have noticed that I had this listed as March 25th last week. Easter is very late this year, so I figured it would be best to do this on the first, instead!) NEW Book Club! April 21st, 1pm We've got a little group together to start reading the "The Source Field Investigations; The hidden science and lost civilizations behind the 2012 prophecies". As I've mentioned, I already read it once, but dang it if it's just so full of interesting stuff that I couldn't quite get my head around it the first time. So, I'm rereading it and we'll be gathering to discuss April 21st, 1pm. If you're not part of the group I've mentioned, no worries. You're totally welcome! So, buy it and get started! It's a whopper of a book, so even if you're not finished, please do still come. :)
An idea... Hi Point Community Garage Sale I've been busy cleaning out the house of unused stuff and I was thinking about perhaps doing a community rummage sale for all of us with extra stuff. Maybe we could just bring it all to Hi Point and do a massive sale? We could do it for the benefit of a charity or do it and keep track of people's monies. Either way, garage sales on one's own is daunting, but if we pool it, not so bad, right? Let me know if you think this would be good for you and you'd like to participate! sarah@hipointcoffee.com
Newsletter Photography!! Ian Kahler is our resident photographer, supplying all these awesome shots of Hi Point. I'm so grateful to you, Ian! You can check him out at http://www.redbubble.com/people/iiman Plus, Ian's got a community shot book at Hi Point, which you can peruse. It's up front where the newletter binder and the community sketch book are located.
Record Street In case you're wondering, we do still gather donations for the Record Street Shelter! If you have anything you'd like to donate, bring it to us. Our box is almost full and ready for a run. Thanks!!
