News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe

Hold on to your hats, folks! We might have a drop of rain next week! Time to start looking for the long lost umbrella! :)

Can you believe how beautifully sunny it is today? The blue is so impressive. I'm soaking in every drop of sun we get, because I'm totally convinced that winter will eventually come and it's gonna be a doozy to make up for a ton of lost time. This opinion is based on the very scientific foundation of feeling, a slight touch of intuition and a whole lotta hope. I'm sure there's some sort of reading I can do about why my apple trees put out fresh leaves last week (ack!), but spouting beliefs that come purely from the void of my head is far more satisfying. And probably less frightening, though, again that is a complete guess. Wow, I bet you didn't know how educational my newsletters can be!

Well, as for Hi Point news, we have had a good start on organizing new events for the 2012 year. I'm pretty excited about hosting a wide range of events and interests. There's more below to read on what's going on and hopefully you'll start thinking about what you'd like to do at Hi Point! Please, email me with any and all ideas.

OK, folks, time to sit in a sun beam for a bit and get ready for rain. Hope all is well in your world and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Sarah

PS I should mention that we changed our menu just a tad. Added some new sandwiches and took off a couple things to keep it fresh. New Turkey Cuban with lots of bread and butter pickles (yum!) and a new Grilled Cheese with either pesto or our chipotle aioli sauce and your choice of cheeses. :)
Sunday Breakfast Special
Served Sunday 9am - 2pm

Mushrooms and gorgonzola tart served with fresh ricotta scrambled eggs and glazed bacon with a side of blood orange and fennel salad.
$12
New Coffee at Hi Point!
We are featuring Woodfire Roasted's Brazil for the next week or two! It's absolutely delicious and I do believe the folks that are still dreaming of the Ethiopian would enjoy this coffee. It's light, but very nicely balanced. I'm a fan. Here's Tim's tasting notes from his website, www.woodfireroasted.com.
"Organically grown - The city+ roast on this coffee brings out aromas of vanilla, caramel and apricot. Sugary sweetness leads off the flavor profile with a hint of crisp green apple and a gently lingering finish of cocoa and caramel."

New Beer!
As some of you may know, I'm not a big beer fan, though I do respect and adore our beer drinkers. So, I was excited to bring in a new selection from Grand Teton Brewing Co., "The Pursuit of Hoppiness". As you may guess, it's an IPA and one of their cellar reserve series which has been added to the regular line-up. The kept it around because Draft magazine had listed this beer as one of the 25 best beers in the world! So, of course I had to try it and it was darn tasty! Imagine that. One of the best in the world and we get to drink it in little ol' Reno. :)  It's in a 750ml format and is $10/bottle.

Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga.
New Activities at Hi Point!

OK, ladies and gents. We've got some new things coming up. For those of you who didn't read the email last week (It's ok if you miss once in a while. I understand. ha!), we are going to approach the whole events thing differently. I love the idea of opening up Hi Point to a larger range in activities besides music and I'm asking for your involvement. So, if you have an idea or just something that you'd enjoy doing with others with common interests at Hi Point, let me know! Maybe we can make your idea happen. Here's what's coming down the pike...

Astronomy Lounge  -  a gathering of astronomy buffs and newbies who are interested in discussing and sharing about astronomy as a hobby. First meeting is February 4th, 1pm.

Game Night, starting this coming Tuesday, 7pm

I'm seriously gonna do the old biddy dance party and I've got someone I'm going to bug about doing a monthly open mic night. Also, Jay suggested literary events, which is great! Crafting in the afternoons. French lessons while discussing French wine, perhaps? And the book club is getting reorganized. So, keep the ideas coming and stay tuned for upcoming events!
