News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 10/13/11

Well, there's no getting around the fact that I haven't sent an email for two weeks! Ack! In case you were worried, don't be. I've just been busy and a touch overwhelmed and so I didn't find the time to sit down and write. Now that I'm sitting here, I realize how much I enjoy writing this little note to you, my wonderful folks. So, thank you for reading and I hope you had a great last couple weeks, too!

The two big things these past two weeks for me are Hi Point's new menu for the Fall and also my husband's and my 10th wedding anniversary! So after the big push of getting out the menu, we took some days off and went to Bend, OR. Super fun!

So, I've got the new menu down below to download. Looks like the favorites so far on the breakfast menu are the cheesy grits with poached eggs and bacon along with the veggie scramble. The blackberry crepes have also hit it off, too, so that's exciting. For lunch, the big winner so far is the pastrami panini with a Sriracha aioli, swiss and sauerkraut, plus the soups. I think we've already made three or four different soups in the last week and I'm expecting this to be a ton of fun this Fall/Winter. The other lunch things are really meant for cold weather, like baked 4 cheese mac n' cheese or lentils and sausage. All my favorite foods! :) Please check out the full menu below!

Well, folks, almost time for choir practice, so I'm gonna sign off for now. And I promise to be back on track for weekly emails again. I missed you! :)

Ta!

Yoga Class at Hi Point!

I'm so in love with Jelena's yoga class. It's an intermediate class with lots of demanding postures, but Jelena is gentle teacher and will help you modify to make your practice perfect for you. I got through one class without having to go into child's pose and I gotta say, I was very proud of myself. We'll see if I can do it again! :)

Wednesday, October 19th  5:30pm - 6:45pm

Jelena's style of yoga is a dynamic flowing practice that allows the internal movement of the breath to carry the external movement of the body. As the life force (prana) is intensified and stilled, the physical practice becomes a dynamic form of meditation. Challenging the body and mind to find a balance between effort and receptivity imbues the physical practice with lightness and grace and maximizes one's power of conscious manifestation. This process of self-realization and unity with the divine is the essence of yoga.
New Menu for the Fall!

It's here!! Fall has arrived and that means the Fall menu has landed, as well. We've been serving for the past week and so far, so good. We've gotten some great feedback and all I can say is, it is packed with great comfort foods for chilly weather. Now, if it would only get seriously cold, we'll really be in business. Check it out!! Click here for the pdf. :) It's posted on our Facebook page, too, but we're having some technical goofs with getting it on the website. We'll have it up soon, though!
Call to Action!

Alright, folks! It's getting cold outside and I've been thinking about children in need of cold weather clothing today. I know a wonderful family within the Hi Point community who has brought in two children who have lost their home/parents. This family cannot afford to care for these children, and yet they are doing it anyway with great courage and faith. Their current struggle is clothing for cold weather, since the kids are from Vegas. I heard this and I want to help. So I will find what I have to give, but perhaps many of you may wish to help, as well. 7 year old boy and 14 year old girl. Of course, these are not the only children in need in our city, so if you have other warm coats, mittens, sweaters, etc., please bring this in and we'll make sure it gets to the folks who need it, whether that is the family, the family shelter or local schools who may be able to distribute. Wouldn't it be nice to get together the warm stuff before the snow flies again?
