News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 7/21/11

I do believe these are the dog days of summer. I'm not totally sure what that's supposed to mean, but here I'll presume it means being deep in the throws of vacation, lots of quality pool time and sunburns, listening to the nightly cricket song and smelling the oh-so-wonderful bbq. It seems to me there is a tiny window of time that it's finally, truly summer, but not back-to-school just yet. And that's where we are folks. This is the time for leisurely morning lattes, chilly afternoon frappes, running in sprinklers and watching sunsets. Enjoy!! :)

So...news. We're trying out a new thing with the hours to solve a conundrum. Our evening music events are starting at 8pm and going to 10pm now since we noticed this is just better for business, especially during the summer. However, it's not affordable to stay open during the interim hours. So, on the music days we will still close at 4 and then the evening crew will come in at 7:30 to get set up for the shows at 8pm.

What else? Chord Soup tonight, the two Justins tomorrow and book club this Sunday! Plus a new featured coffee and of course Sunday Brunch. Check it out below!

Thanks for all you do and I hope to see you soon! :)

New Coffee Featured at Hi Point!

Our roaster, Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee, is celebrating 10 years of great roasting in Reno, NV.He's made a very special Anniversary Blend and we're brewing this up for as long as its available. It's certified Organically Grown and Fair Trade. It's tasting notes are predominately chocolate and orange spice, with pralines, vanilla and caramel. It's delicious and I wouldn't expect anything less from Tim. Congratulations on 10 years, Tim! :)

We're discussing the "The Cellist of Sarajevo" by Steven Galloway. This book is about community and humanity in the face of war in Sarajevo. It's reviewed as thought-provoking, haunting, challenging and engrossing. A short novel with a powerful and poignant story to tell. Definitely a worthy choice!
