News from Hi Point Coffee and Cafe 7/6/11

Summer storms! As I'm writing this, dark clouds are gathering, blocking that crazy hot sun and I'm waiting for the seriously delicious rain to start. I hope!! So, I'm sitting outside with my uber cool little laptop, on Hi Point's now-working-again WiFi, waiting for the show to begin. Feels a little bit like that super old TV game show where people would say "big money, big money, no wammies!". I'm thinkin' "big rain, big rain, no fire!". Fingers crossed!

Well, you might be wondering why I'm actually writing so early in the week (never mind that this is when I'm "supposed" to get the newsletter out). Well, it's cause we have some new events starting, the first of which is tonight! Music with Lenny Walker!! Yes, Wednesday night! So, if you love folk music or good ol' Americana tunes, tonight's music is free and starting at 7pm.

I've put some more info about the next shows coming up down below, along with Sunday Brunch plans and I've included our new menu still, in case you haven't taken the time to check it out.

Well, raindrops are starting to fall. Think it's my cue to sign off. :) Hope all is well!!

Hi Point's New Summer Menu for Lunch and Breakfast!

Check out the new menu posted here !

Sunday Brunch

We're goin' French this weekend! We're doing our version of a French favorite, eggs roulade. It's kinda like a fancy rolled omelet or perhaps more like a breakfast pinwheel, but instead of tortilla, the filling is wrapped in an omelet-like wrap. Super cool and only slightly scary, which is exactly how I think of French cooking. Dare devil stuff with a great payoff in the end. Love it!

Sunday Brunch Menu

Eggs roulade filled with gruyere cheese and sauteed mushrooms and chard, topped with a light fondue sauce and served with your choice of our homemade turkey apple sausage or bacon and roast red potatoes. Brunch is finished with a roasted summer-ripe plum, served with lemon sugar and creme fraiche.

New Book for July!

New book for this month is the "The Cellist of Sarajevo" by Steven Galloway. This book is about community and humanity in the face of war in Sarajevo. It's reviewed as thought-provoking, haunting, challenging and engrossing. A short novel with a powerful and poignant story to tell. Definitely a worthy choice! The next meeting is set for 7/24 2pm.
