Hola! Mother's Day is such a cool holiday. One, it tends to center around breakfast which gives it automatic cool points. But, mothers really do deserve a day, at the very least, for all they do. So, to all the mothers, hats off to you and all that you do for your families! I hope to give my momma a decent Mother's Day present and I know she reads this, so I'm just putting that in here to tease her for a moment. Hi, Mom! :)
So, that said, you absolutely must bring yourself and the mothers in your life in for brunch on Sunday, 'cause it's gonna be great and so much fun! Check out the menu below....
Also, Saturday music, Saturday dinner, plus a new beer and a new wine added to the list. You know, I think that's all for now. Hope everyone is having a great evening and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Thanks for all you do! Sarah |

Lenny Walker
Lenny plays traditional and contemporary folk, roots, bluegrass and Americana styles. He plays his own compositions as well as some old standards. What I like best about Lenny is his ability to tell a story with a song and keep the audience engaged and laughing along with him. Lenny is an entertainer, to be sure. Come check him out! Free show, donations are welcome. :)

Saturday Dinner Special!
Serving at 5pm
We're going to fancy for Sunday, I thought we'd kick it a little bit on Saturday with meatloaf sandwiches. They taste great, wash down great with a beer and are wonderful comfort food. It's our bacon meatloaf, served hot on focaccia and grilled on the press. Served with mashed potatoes and gravy! |
Beer and Wine List
A new white wine is in to celebrate our glorious Spring weather! The Flaco Blanco from Spain is a wonderful mix of flavors, combining the brightness of a Sauvignon Blanc with the depth of an unoaked Chardonnay. I had to try it as soon as it came in and I do believe it's a winner. Totally perfect for sun. Also, a new beer, the Sweet Grass from Grand Teton. It's an American Pale Ale and won the gold medal for the category in the Great American Beer Festival. I have yet to open my second bottle of alcohol today, but I'll let you know later what I think. ;)

New Book for Book Club!
The Last Child in the Woods: Saving our children from nature-deficit disorder
In honor of Earth Day, we're reading a book about the importance of contact with Nature for our children from the point of view of a child advocacy expert. But how can it not be important for the rest of us? I know I start to go a little wiggy if I don't at least go for a walk every couple days. I'm looking forward to this book, though I know he'll be preachin' to the choir. :)
Here's what Publisher's Weekly has to say... "Today's kids are increasingly disconnected from the natural world, says child advocacy expert Louv (Childhood's Future; Fatherlove
; etc.), even as research shows that "thoughtful exposure of youngsters to nature can... be a powerful form of therapy for attention-deficit disorder and other maladies." Instead of passing summer months hiking, swimming and telling stories around thecampfire, children these days are more likely to attend computer camps or weight-loss camps: as a result, Louv says, they've come to think of nature as more of an abstraction than a reality. Indeed, a 2002 British study reported that eight-year-olds could identify Pokémon characters far more easily than they could name "otter, beetle, and oak tree." Gathering thoughts from parents, teachers, researchers, environmentalists and other concerned parties, Louv argues for a return to an awareness of and appreciation for the natural world. Not only can nature teach kids science and nurture their creativity, he says, nature needs its children: where else will its future stewards come from? Louv's book is a call to action, full of warnings-but also full of ideas for change."
